March 7 was Employee Appreciation Day, but we’re celebrating our team members all month long by sharing their stories. Read more about Tyler Wilson, who works remotely as an IT Support Technician for New Story Management.
What is your favorite thing about working here?
The connections I build with administrators and staff and assisting students who need it the most.
What keeps you coming to work each day?
Something that keeps me coming to work every day is the people. I appreciate my team, and I appreciate the hard work that support staff and teachers do for the kids in our schools, and how hard administration works to support their staff.
How do you make an impact on students’ lives?
Keeping students connected in today's world is extremely important and making sure they have reliable and assistive technology is very meaningful to me.
Which one of our Better Together values resonates with you most personally and why? (Integrity, Accountable, Collaborative, Inclusive, Supportive):
Supportive - 100% of my job is helping people, and it’s what I love to do!
What does a “day in the life” look like for your role?
Traveling to schools for onsite support and handling tickets/emails for New Story employees to make sure their devices are functioning properly. This way they can do their job without any extra hassle.
Can you talk a little bit about your career trajectory and what led you to where you are now?
I started off working in a warehouse when I turned 18. I was brought on to work on robotics that moved around the floor of the facility, and supporting workers with their IT Issues. I did that for a few years until COVID hit, then I moved to work from home, and was able to work smaller tech jobs until I ended up at New Story. I have enjoyed every minute of being here at this company.
What has been your proudest moment or accomplishment in your role?
Honestly, every day is a proud moment for me, providing solutions to teachers, administration, students and even the CEO! There is a lot of gratification in helping people and it's always been my strong suit.
What is something about you that not many people know?
My wife is an elementary school teacher!
